Sunburnt Country

The Brief

The clients are a couple in their thirties and have a young child about to start primary school. The couple recently bought a heritage home - a Victorian terrace house - and wish to transform it into a family home where they can entertain and also allow their child can grow up. Due to the recent changes in their work lives, the parents want a space to work from home. The couple are also interested in sustainable, local design and they would also like their previously collected art and furniture in the new design.

My Response

The Victorian terrace was transformed into an immersive space with concepts and inspiration drawn from Australia’s contrasting coastal and desert landscapes, along with influences from the angular and curved shapes of our natural land. I also integrated hints of Victorian heritage to retain the history of the home.
