Flora & Fauna

The Brief

To convert an existing warehouse space into two residential developments. The space is to be divided into two apartments that will appeal to the ‘First Home Buyer’ and ‘Upgrader’ demographic at different price brackets. The apartments need to include one-two bedrooms, one bathroom, laundry, pantry, an internal garden and have a focus around open-plan kitchen, living and dining areas.

My Response

For this project, I was inspired by our earth's flora and fauna. I used this concept throughout my design to create Apartment 1 - "Flora" which is influenced by nature and plant life, and Apartment 2 - "Fauna" which is influenced by Earth’s animal life. I chose this concept and integrated Biophilic design, hoping to stimulate feelings of being with nature in such a brutalist, manmade built environment.

Apartment 1 - "Flora"

Flora is an apartment that is fresh and light with an earthy and comfortable atmosphere.

Apartment 2 - "Fauna"

Fauna is a sophisticated and elegant apartment with an earthy and dark ambience.
